Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin (Jermyn Street Collection) Review

Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin (Jermyn Street Collection) is the first shaving cream that I purchased when I started shaving with a safety razor.
While I was purchasing the rest of my kit, I was concerned about using a new product as I have sensitive skin. At the time I was using a cartridge razor with a shaving gel in an aerosol can and had no idea the world options that was about to be unleashed upon me.
- English Classic
- Light fragrance for sensitive skin
- 5.3 oz
- Jermyn Street Luxury Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin in a resealable bowl. Use with a brush, delicate fragrance.
When I first smelled the Jermyn Collection I knew I found something special. The smell is fantastic, a clean and fresh but somewhat masculine scent. I can’t get enough of it even now as I sit here constantly smelling it while I try to figure out how to describe it.
My world came crashing down when I saw how much it costs. I thought I was supposed to be saving money using a safety razor?!
I have since been desensitized to the prices of the shaving products and have discarded the notion of using a safety razor to save money. If you really want to you absolutely can shave for less using a safety razor, but that is no fun. I use a safety razor now to enjoy shaving rather than loathing it, and that is where a high quality product like this comes in. I have also since seen Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Creams quite reasonably priced at many places.
Building a lather with the Taylor of Old Bond Street is exceptionally easy. I always like to start off not skimping on product and not very much water. From there I progressively add more water as I go to build my version of the perfect lather. Using this technique one should have zero issues achieving a fantastic lather, regardless of the brush or water type.
One tip if you’re newer to this is to be cautious dipping your brush right into the tub to load up with cream, it is easy to pick up a little more product than you bargained for. While this actually makes building the lather easier it is a tad wasteful and you may go through these $20 tubs quicker than you would like. I like to use my finger and put some into my shaving mug first and start from there.
The lather itself is quite slick and has given me no issues when shaving. I shave both my head and my face and I usually leave shaving cream on my face while I shave my head to soften up the whiskers. I do notice specifically with the Taylor of Old Bond Street for Sensitive Skin that it can dry out a bit and I notice it flake away. I just add water and it’s not where I’m shaving anyways, but my point is that is does seem to be thirsty and dry a little faster than the other soaps and creams that I’ve tried.
I highly recommend giving the Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin (Jermyn Street Collection) a try, I am looking forward to trying some of the many other Taylor of Old Bond Street scents.
